“Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.”

Isaiah 12:2 NIV

God Will Strengthen You

Money laundering and terrorist financing support, reward, and perpetuate criminal activities that threaten the safety and security of Canadians and the integrity of our economy. Canada faces continually evolving risks and threats as criminals adopt new strategies to exploit economic sectors and emerging financial technologies. A strong legislative and regulatory framework and consistent and effective enforcement are required to detect, disrupt, and deter these financial crimes. Earlier this year, the Government of Canada launched a public consultation to examine ways to improve Canada’s Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Regime.

Governments spend a lot of their time strengthening legislation in order to protect their citizens from those who do wrong. What the law cannot do is strengthen the resolve of human beings, giving them a desire and ability to do what is right and ethical. That takes a total heart transformation that only our Creator can do. The prophet Isaiah understood this and wrote, in Isaiah 12:2: “Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense, he has become my salvation.’” When we repent of our sins, and place our faith in Jesus Christ, He changes our hearts and desires. Instead of desiring the things of this world, we long to live a life that lines up with God’s Word and brings honour to Jesus Christ. The Lord provides all we need to do so. He strengthens us and comes alongside us to ensure that we don’t yield when temptation shows up. We can live our lives without fear, confident that the presence of the Holy Spirit ensures that we walk in victory.

These have been words from the heart.
