Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.

Psalm 107:21 NIV

Thanks for His Unfailing Love

There is a group of people in Canada who trace their ancestry to the arrival of the pilgrims on the Mayflower. The Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants exists, according to their website, “To perpetuate the memory of the Pilgrims, whose unfailing strength and undying courage, inspired their descendants to travel vast distances to found, settle and populate towns on a new continent; and in so doing were instrumental in the development and history of what became Canada.”

The theologian Karl Barth was once asked what the greatest theological truth was and he answered “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” Anyone who has read much of the New Testament or sat through a sermon or two in church has heard the good news that God is love. God’s nature is love. He can’t help but love the world he made, and the highest of his creation – us. While we may grasp this intellectually, sometimes we doubt this. So let me say this – when you are grieving – God loves you. When you have failed him horribly – God loves you. When your family is crumbling – God loves you. When you are facing financial pressures – God loves you. No matter what is happening in your life, God loves you. What do you do about this? Psalm 107:21 says, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.” Our response to God’s unfailing love must always be thanksgiving. When was the last time you took time to say thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love? He has been with you through the good times and the challenging. Give thanks.

These have been words from the heart.
