Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.

Psalm 107:4-5 NIV

The Soul Fainted

According to HealthLink BC, “Fainting is a sudden, brief loss of consciousness. When people faint, or pass out, they usually fall down. After they are lying down, most people will recover quickly. Fainting is caused by a drop in blood flow to the brain. After you lose consciousness and fall or lie down, more blood can flow to your brain so you wake up again. Most causes of fainting are usually not signs of a more serious illness. But it is a good idea to see your doctor, because fainting could have a serious cause.

I love reading the stories of Jesus in the New Testament. They record the testimonies of so many who have been transformed by meeting Him, and having Him reach out to them to touch, heal, forgive, deliver, redeem. Every one who encounters Jesus in this way leaves different from when they met Him. Jesus always changes us. As he writes Psalm 107, David recognizes the goodness of God in transforming lives. He mentions some in Psalm 107:4-5: “Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.” This may be your story. There are many in the family of God who have wandered in a spiritual wilderness for years. They have sought for peace of heart in so many different religions and new age spirituality, and have left them all behind still searching – they didn’t find their “city” to use David’s analogy here, until they met Jesus. If you are still wandering, reach out in faith to Jesus today. He will lead you out of the wilderness and quench your spiritual hunger and thirst.
