For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!

Live As People of Light

The pandemic forced a lot of activity online that people usually experience live. Back in 2020, the government of Canada launched a virtual Northern Lights show. According to the Canadian government website: “The bilingual sound and light show, Northern Lights, usually presented every summer evening on Parliament Hill, will charm you differently this summer. Experience it wherever you are and take a virtual tour of Canada’s history! Organize your very own screening night and bring the magic of a sound and light show into your home.”

I find nocturnal animals to be really fascinating. They love the dark. The Creator has designed them to be able to see clearly at night. They don’t stub their paws on the bed post at 3:00 AM. Human beings are not meant for the night – we prefer to live our lives during the day. This is so both physically and spiritually. Which is the point that Paul makes in Ephesians 5:8: “For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!” Until we place our faith in Jesus Christ, the Bible says that we are full of darkness. If you’ve ever shared the Gospel with someone and they just don’t get, it’s because they are still in spiritual darkness. Only the Holy Spirit can transform the heart and mind of someone and bring them from darkness to light, just as He did in us. Now that the darkness has been replaced with the light of Jesus, we see everything differently. But the Christian life is more than a change in worldview. It is a change in how we live. Let’s live as people of light.

These have been words from the heart.
