“Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”

Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV

Obedience

Here in Canada, dog obedience training is an unregulated industry.  That means that anyone can hang a shingle on their door stating that they are a dog trainer. There is no regulatory body checking training methods, education, etc.  As a result, it falls directly on the consumer to to their own research about a trainer and to check their methods and qualifications.  There are two main types of trainers: those with an education and qualifications, and those who are “self-taught” or “just have a way with dogs.”

There is always a tension in the life of the follower of Jesus. We are citizens of the kingdom of heaven and we long to be with Jesus. Eternity is birthed in our hearts and we long to be with Jesus. But at the same time, Jesus blesses us with abundant life here and now. We enjoy being with loved ones in this world, and are called to be salt and light in this world. God has a plan for our lives right here and right now. Listen to the promise He gives to His people Israel in Deuteronomy 5:33: “Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” It was C.S. Lewis who said that only when we are heavenly minded are we any earthly good. When we keep eternity in view, and live a life trusting Jesus and walking in step with Him, the Lord promises us a life that prospers spiritually. There is no better way to enjoy life here and now, than being a follower of Jesus Christ.

These have been words from the heart.
