Words from the Heart for Saturday October 26th, 2019
For with God nothing will be impossible.
Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
Nothing Is Impossible
Housing affordability improved for the second straight quarter in Canada, in the first quarter of 2019, according to the latest RBC Economics Housing Trends and Affordability Report. Modest price drops in both Atlantic and Western Canada and rising household income contributed to improved affordability. However, affording a home in Toronto and Vancouver is just about impossible. Only one in eight families earns the income necessary to manage ownership costs in the Vancouver area, and one in five families in both the Toronto area and Victoria.
Sometimes the short verses of the Bible speak volumes. In the first chapter of Luke’s gospel, we read about the angel who appears to Mary and tells her that she is going to be the mother of the Messiah. Mary doesn’t doubt, but she does ask how this is going to happen. It’s a fair question and the angel answers her and gives her an illustration of what God is able to do – her cousin Elizabeth, who is past child-bearing age, is going to have a baby. And then, the angel says in Luke 1:37: “For with God nothing will be impossible.” What a great truth in just seven words. Nothing is impossible with God. Not even the situation that you are facing that seems insurmountable right now. If God was able to produce a child in the womb of an old woman and another in the womb of a virgin, He is certainly able to meet whatever needs you have right now. He isn’t going to send an angel to assure you of that – He has spoken through His word, the Bible. Nothing will be impossible with God. Write that out on post-it notes and put them all over your house. Then believe it.
These have been words from the heart.
