Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.
Proverbs 29:11 NIV
Calm
We live in a busy world, and there are times when we need to find some solitude and calm. Fortunately, there are such places here in Canada. Cottage Life suggests you head to St. Andrews New Brunswick. They say “This seaside-resort town is small, but there are a lot of pleasant ways to spend the days there: golfing at one of the many courses in the town, dining at seaside restaurants, taking a whale-watching cruise, or just looking out over the beautiful ocean view.”

Let’s say you are driving along a highway and you come upon a car that is on fire. You’ve got two containers in your trunk – a large bottle of water and container filled with gasoline. As you rush towards the fire, which container are you going to take to throw on the fire? The answer seems obvious – who throws a container of gasoline on a fire? Well, lots of people – not literally of course, but in other ways. In our relationships, every one of us carries around a bucket of water and a bucket of gasoline. If things get tense in that relationship, too often we thrown on the gasoline. Listen to how King Solomon puts this in Proverbs 29:11: “Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.” There is great wisdom in being one who brings peace to a potential explosive situation. Jesus says that peacemakers are blessed because they will be called the children of God. We are called to bring peace to every situation – to throw water on the fire. This isn’t easy – we will need to depend on God’s guidance and peace. Be wise – bring calm in the end.
These have been words from the heart.
