Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else…

Galatians 6:4 (NIV)

Actions

The Korean War began on June 25, 1950, when North Korean armed forces invaded South Korea. The war’s combat phase lasted until an armistice was signed on July 27, 1953. As part of a United Nations force, 26,791 Canadian military personnel served in the Korean War, during both the combat phase and as peacekeepers afterward. After the two world wars, Korea remains Canada’s third-bloodiest overseas conflict, with military action taking the lives of 516 Canadians and wounding more than 1,200.

Too often we spend our time comparing ourselves to others. We try hard trying to keep up with others, financially, professionally, socially. If someone else succeeds, we wonder what is wrong with us. It can lead to depression, or worse, to a competitive nature that can have horrible repercussions. The Bible warns us against this. Galatians 6:4 says, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else…” I love how the Bible begins this – each one should test their own actions. In other words – we have enough to do with spiritual self-inspection. The more we are concerned with our own spiritual wellbeing, the less time we have to compare ourselves with others. Our goals must always be to be like Jesus – He is the goal, not anyone else. As we take time to read God’s Word, we should be constantly asking the Holy Spirit to test our lives against God’s standard of righteousness and holiness. We should constantly be seeing ourselves in the mirror of God’s standards. Take time today to mind your own spiritual business. By so doing you will become more and more like Jesus.
