Words from the Heart for Saturday November 13th, 2021
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.
Romans 12:6 (NIV)
I’m always interested in knowing what people from outside of Canada think are the best gifts to bring home from a visit to our country. One website suggests the Hudson’s Bay Company’s famous 8-point blanket. It says, “These historic blankets may be imported from England, but they have been used in Canada since 1779 and were once used as a form of currency between trappers and Native Americans. They can fit a standard king-size bed and you can just imagine that it would look lovely to snuggle into at home.”
As the Advent and Christmas season approach, parents and grandparents are thinking about what to buy for gifts for their family members. Often, gifts are purchased based on the interests and talents of those children and grandchildren. That’s how it should be. It is a microcosm of how the Lord Jesus metes out gifts to His children. In Romans 12:6 we read, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith.” God, the giver of gifts, is also the Creator of each one of us. He knows us better than anyone else, including ourselves. He knows how we are naturally created, and gives gifts according to how He has made us. You have been given, by grace, unique gifts from the God who lovingly crafted you. He has given you those gifts so you can be a blessing to others within the family of God. Each of us are called to invest those gifts into others and to use them fully for the glory of God. What ministry gifts has the Lord given you? Put them into use today.
These have been words from the heart.
