Words from the Heart for Saturday May 4th, 2019

…everyone whose heart God had moved— prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.

Ezra 1:5-6 (NIV)

A Heart Moved By God

Northern Canada—which refers to the three territories of the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut—makes up more than 40% of our country’s land mass but contains less than 1% of the total population. But statistics show the North is growing. The territories saw a 6% population increase over the last few years, according to census data from Statistics Canada – higher than the national average. According to one Canadian who recently moved north, “There are unique economic opportunities here that don’t exist anywhere else in Canada.”

After the Lord brought the people back from 70 years of captivity in Babylon, the time came to rebuild the Temple. Between the destruction at the time of the Babylonian victory and the disuse over seven decades, the Temple was a mess. So the Lord moved on the hearts of the people to give to the support of the rebuilding of the Temple. Ezra 1:5-6 says “…—everyone whose heart God had moved— prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. All their neighbors assisted them with articles of silver and gold, with goods and livestock, and with valuable gifts, in addition to all the freewill offerings.” God had more than enough money to rebuild the Temple. It was in the treasury and jewelry boxes of His people. God has more than enough money today, as well, for every ministry and missions organization reaching out in the name of Jesus. It is in the pockets and bank accounts of His people today. He isn’t building a Temple these days – He is building His Kingdom. Has He moved your heart to come alongside those whom God is using to build His Kingdom.

These have been words from the heart.
