Words from the Heart for Saturday May 30th, 2020
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)
Ask, Seek, Knock
Early in the COVID-19 battle, Canada’s House of Commons began seeking ways to take its debates virtual. The House recessed March 13 for five weeks to ensure MPs were doing their part to slow travel and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The all-party agreement to temporarily rise included allowances for smaller numbers of MPs to convene when emergency legislation needed passing. As provinces extended stay-at-home orders and requests well into May, the House of Commons began seeking to have virtual sittings.
God invites us to search for Him. He makes a promise that if we seek Him with all of our heart, we will find Him. Jesus puts the same principle this way in Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” The tense in the Greek is ask and keep on asking, seek and keep on seeking, knock and keep on knocking. This is a command. And as with almost all commands in the Bible, this one comes with a promise. As we ask, seek and knock, God will provide everything for which we are searching. God doesn’t hide Himself from us. He has revealed Himself to the world in the person of Jesus Christ. He stepped out of Glory to tabernacle with us. If you are longing for a relationship with your Creator God, He is not hidden. Come before Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and He will respond to the questions you ask, He will present Himself to you when you seek, and He will reveal Himself to you.
These have been words from the heart.
