The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23-24 NIV

Listen to Words from the Heart

Northern Delights is Thunder Bay’s fall and winter culinary festival. Established in 2015 by local Restauranteurs, this event is now in its seventh year and is now being led by Tourism Thunder Bay. It offers the perfect opportunity for patrons to discover delicious cuisine and celebrate the local restaurant and food scene. During the month-long festival, held each October, participating restaurants offer prix fixe menus using local ingredients. Northern Delights gives locals and visitors alike the opportunity to sample Thunder Bay’s burgeoning culinary scene.

We all take delight in something, or someone. A happy couple delights in each other, parents delight in their children, most of us take delight in our favourite food. All of us delight in beautiful scenery. What we delight in is a sign of what we love, what we have set our heart on. So we understand what King David was getting at when he wrote this in Psalm 37:23-24: “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” When we set our heart on Jesus, when we delight in Him, He gives us a wonderful promise – His presence and His protection. David understood what it was to stumble. He really blew it when he took advantage of Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah sent to his death. He quickly learned that God didn’t abandon him, and when David repented, God forgave Him and upheld him. He will do that with us as well. We all trip up – even the most godly human being is far from perfect. When we delight in the Lord, we can be assured He will uphold us too.

These have been words from the heart.
