Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

Hebrews 11:1-3 NIV

Confidence

The annual Confederation of Tomorrow surveys give voice to Canadians about the major issues shaping the future of the federation and their political communities. The 2023 survey determined that Canadians are less likely to have confidence in business leaders, governments and political leaders – confidence has declined in recent years. Confidence in political leaders and in governments, however, remains higher today than it was 30 years ago. Only in the case of business leaders is confidence lower today than at any previous time over the past four decades.

Christians trust what the Bible says. We have confidence that it is the Word of God; and in it, God has spoken to us in ways that help us live in victory now and look to the future with confidence that God has everything under control. We walk by faith, not having seen all that God has in store for us, but with the assurance that all He has promised will come to pass. The author of the book of Hebrews writes this: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” The Christian faith is not blind faith. We have the Word of God that is completely trustworthy, we have millennia of God’s working in the lives of His people, and we have our own testimony of a transformed life. Of all people, we have confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Walk in faith today.

These have been words from the heart.
