It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.
Psalm 44:3 (NIV)
For You Loved Them
Calgarian Leigh McAdam, who writes the travel blog Hike Bike Travel was asked why she loved Canada. She replied, “I love Canada for its incredibly diverse landscapes, cultural diversity and friendly people. As one who appreciates wild and untamed wilderness, I feel lucky to live in a country that is home to mountain ranges, hundreds of rivers, thousands of lakes, 36 national parks, eight national park preserves, and several hundred provincial parks.”
If you want to walk in victory today, if you want to look back at this day as you lay your head on the pillow and be able to declare, “It has been a good day,” spend the day being consumed by the love of God. God’s love for you is far greater than you can imagine. He pours out blessing after blessing in our lives. David had experienced this and says in Psalm 44:3: “It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.” It is so easy to be proud of what we accomplish today. We will love others, and we will get things checked off our “to do” list. Through it all we need to be reminded that all we do today is because God has been faithful to supply everything we needed for the task He gave us. This was so for the people of Israel. God had given them the promised land and by His grace, He had given them the victory. We would do well to remember that in our lives today: all victories come from His hand.
These have been words from the heart.
