Words from the Heart for Saturday June 29th, 2019
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
Psalm 107:8-9 (NIV)
A recent survey shows only 27 per cent of Canadians say they are satisfied with their current employer and are not interested in a new job. The survey shows 37 per cent of respondents are either actively or casually seeking another employer. An almost equal number would consider an offer if another employer approached them. The survey also showed that those between 18 and 24 years old decide within a year if they’ll stay with the operation for a longer duration. Reasons for dissatisfaction include financial compensation, a lack of opportunity for new challenges and lack of respect from the employer.
I love the sense of satisfaction that comes with a job well done. I sit down, catch my breath, grab a cup of tea and enjoy the sense of a job well done. I love the sense of being satisfied after eating a delicious meal at the end of a long day. We human beings love to be satisfied. What about spiritual satisfaction? When was the last time you were spiritually satisfied? King David experienced this and writes, in Psalm 107:8-9: “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Jesus spoke about being the water that satisfies the soul, and the bread that satisfies our spiritual hunger. That wasn’t a new thought. King David had experienced that kind of satisfaction in his relationship with the Lord. It ought to be the normal experience for all who love the Lord Jesus. In what way has Jesus satisfied your soul lately? Give thanks to Him for His unfailing love towards you.
