But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!
Amos 5:24 NIV
Stream
Home to more than 60 per cent of North America’s top Atlantic salmon streams, Newfoundland and Labrador serve up some of the best fly fishing in Canada. Among the province’s top streams, the 37-mile-long Gander River flows with some 25,000 returning salmon each spring. Up to 175 fish per hour have been caught during peak season. The season runs June to October and the best fly-fishing spots are only a short drive from the famous Gander airport.

The Bible is filled with the cry of God’s people for justice to be done. Every one of us has, at one time or another, felt like we have been treated unjustly. For some, the injustice is harmful to life itself. Those of us who are followers of Jesus understand that our God doesn’t miss a thing and will bring about justice for everyone who has been mistreated. The prophet wrote this in Amos 5:24: “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” Most of us know this verse through the famous speech by Martin Luther King Jr. It was an appropriate text for the civil rights movement he was leading – justice was certainly needed and still is in many ways. Justice was needed in Amos’ day as well – Israel had drifted a long way from being the holy people God had called them to be. They were mistreating the poor by charging high rents and not providing the food they needed. Amos painted a picture of justice flowing like a stream to clean out the sin and injustice. One day, God will bring perfect justice. You can count on that. Put your trust in Jesus and He will have your back – forever.
These have been words from the heart.
