Words from the Heart for Saturday June 16th, 2018
He came to His own,and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…
John 1:11-12 (NKJV)
As Many As Received Him
Our God is so filled with love and grace. Yes, some may say they do not want Him in their lives. But we have the wonderful promise that when we accept Him, we can belong to Him as His children. When did you receive Jesus as your Saviour? He’s waiting now to accept you. Salvation is a wonderful gift of grace.
Beginning this past April 6, 2018, Canadians no longer have to be near a television or radio to receive emergency alerts. Life-threatening emergencies will now be broadcast on compatible mobile phones. The National Public Alerting System – commonly called Alert Ready – will include wireless networks, in addition to traditional broadcast channels. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, officials will send a localized alert that will compel compatible phones to emit an alarm and display a bilingual text warning.
Most people in Jesus’ day didn’t recognize Him for who is was and is. They saw Him as just another Jewish rabbi who had a unique ability to teach and heal. But those who recognized Him for who He was – and there were quite a few – experienced His loving power unleashed in His life. The Roman soldier at the foot of the cross, and the criminal beside Him both declared their faith in Him. So did the women at the foot of the Cross. Mary His mother, Joseph His human father, John the Baptist and his parents, Simeon, and Anna all knew who Jesus really was and each and every one of them rejoiced at meeting this unique God man. John puts it this way in John 1:11-12: “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” What a great promise to those who recognized who Jesus was – God made them His children. It happens today as well. All of us who trust in Jesus Christ as Saviour become the sons and daughters of the living God. Hallelujah!
