Words from the Heart for Saturday July 14th, 2018

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

Until it is Finally Finished

In creation the Lord did a perfect work and did not stop until He was finished. Our God is still working. He is doing that good work in our lives. He will not abandon us. He will not stop and leave us unfinished. Commit yourself afresh to experience the full measure of work the Lord is doing within your life. What an adventure with a mighty God.

Some towns start out with such great promise, only to have all hope dashed. For example, a bustling community in Eastern Ontario, Millbridge and its neighbouring town of Millbridge Station had three hotels, a railway station, and saw mills. There was also a schoolhouse, post office, church, and community centre. It was built in the mid-1800s, but the town’s settlers left in the early 1920s when they realized it was poor farmland. Many of the structures from the original towns remain.

God isn’t done with you yet. You haven’t become the perfect person that God wants you to become. What He did when you became a follower of Jesus, forgiving you, redeeming you, giving you a heart in tune with His, is just the beginning. He has so much more He wants to do in you and for you. Paul the apostle, who met Jesus in a life transforming way on the road to Damascus, and was completely transformed by Him, understood this. Philippians 1:6 says, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” We are a work in progress. Each of us who loves Jesus is one day going to be the perfect man or woman of God that we long to be. In the meantime, we must continue to allow the Lord to mould us and shape us. This isn’t always easy. Sometimes that shaping and moulding only happens through challenging times. But keep on trusting, and opening up your heart and soul to the One who loves you and is daily transforming you.

These have been words from the heart.
