Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Strong

Back in 2020, a national campaign raised $3.29 million for family members of those killed when a Ukrainian airlines flight was shot down over Iran in early January. Mohamad Fakih, CEO of Paramount Fine Foods, said the Canada Strong campaign raised $1.79 million over five weeks, surpassing the original goal of $1.5 million, and the federal government matched donations up to a maximum of $1.5 million. Fakih said in a tweet “You did this, Canada! It’s been one of the greatest privileges of my life to see community after community step forward to support our own. Thank you!”

If someone came and offered you unlimited power and strength, who wouldn’t take it. This is the stuff of novels down through the history of the world. To answer my question about who wouldn’t take it, the Bible tells God’s people there is a much better option. The apostle Paul writes about this in Ephesians 6:10: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” As usual, the principles of the Kingdom of God stand in opposition to the kingdoms of this world. The world says to above all get riches and power. The Bible says to above all get God’s strength and power. The strength and power of the Kingdom of God won’t make you more loved by the world – you won’t walk with kings and prime ministers. But you will walk with Jesus and you will serve others with His love and grace. This is a thing of priorities. For the follower of Jesus, the priority is clear – only His strength and power stand in eternity.

These have been words from the heart.
