There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
A Season
For those of you who are not lovers of winter, I’ve got some bad news – the coldest month of the year is just around the corner. According to a Senior Climatologist at Environment Canada David Phillips, February is always considered the coldest month in Canada. The upcoming month was at its worst in 1979 in Eureka, Nunavut with an average overall temperature of -47.9 Celsius. The coldest day in Canada was on Feb. 3, 1947 in Snag, Yukon – it was a brisk -63C.

Where I live, this is the coldest week of the year. From here on in, the average temperatures begin to warm up. The seasons here in Canada move along quickly. It won’t be long before Spring will be here and life will return to the earth. Then summer will come, followed by fall. The God who created the world set all of this into motion. In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we read, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” There are seasons to life that are not meteorological. We all go through times of ease and joy and times of challenge and pain. When we are in the midst of the challenging times, we wonder if they will ever end. They will. When we become a follower of Jesus, He takes control of our lives and guides us. He sets His plan for our lives, always knowing what is best for us during each season of life. During the tough times, we walk in faith, trusting that God really does love us and is allowing what we are going through for our good. Trust Him – another season, a better season, will soon be here.
These have been words from the heart.
