Your Love Stands Forever

Firefighting foams, cosmetics and food packaging that contain cancer-causing “forever chemicals” could be limited or outright banned in Canada following a federal government risk assessment of the products that inches closer to declaring them “toxic.” Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault said last May, as his department released a draft report on PFAS chemicals “Only diamonds should be forever, not human-made substances that are polluting our environment.” There are more than 4,700 such chemicals used in dozens of products including lubricants, water and dirt repellents, textiles, foams and packaging.

Human love is so fickle. It can last a while and flicker out if it isn’t constantly stoked. Too many married couples fall out of love over time if they don’t constantly pour energy and effort into keeping their love strong. What a contrast to the love of God for us. King David wrote this in Psalm 89:2: “I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” Because God is by nature both faithful and loving, He can’t help but love. It flows out of Him in all things. In His faithful love, He wants what’s best for us and He longs for us to be the best we can be. He knows what will mold us into the men and women that He longs for us to be. Sometimes that means He has to discipline us, and that is never easy, but we must never doubt His love for us. And when we need Him the most, He is there for us. David had experienced this so often so makes that strong declaration – God’s love stands forever. It is still so today.

These have been words from the heart.
