Words from the Heart for Saturday February 22nd, 2020
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
The Greatest Canadian was a 2004 television program series by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to determine who was considered to be the greatest Canadian of all time, at least according to those who watched and participated in the program. The “Greatest Canadian” was not decided by a simple popular poll but was instead chosen through a two-step voting process. Voting concluded on 28 November 2004, at midnight and the following evening, the winner was revealed to be Tommy Douglas, the father of Canada’s national medical system.
The Christian life is filled with so many blessings. We get to walk daily with Jesus and enjoy His friendship and love. We experience the gifts of the Spirit as He grants them to us, and the fruit of the Spirit as we grow in grace. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” At the top of the list of all the blessings we have in Christ are these three – faith, hope and love. Faith helps us trust the Lord no matter what life sends our way. It lifts our eyes to Jesus in the midst of the confusion and pain that often marks our life. The gift of hope focuses our eyes beyond our current situation to a preferred and assured future. And love, the greatest of all, the top of the list of all of God’s blessings, is the undeniable, undiminishable, indescribable love of God. It is His greatest gift to you.
These have been words from the heart.
