Words from the Heart for Saturday February 20th, 2021
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)
Renewed Day by Day
The gentrification of Vancouver has been the subject of debate between those who wish to promote gentrification and those who do not. Gentrification in Vancouver has taken place in the context of a strong environmental movement, high land prices, real estate development, and the development of former industrial sites owned by the City of Vancouver. Gentrification in Vancouver has occurred differently in many of its districts. Changes in the area of Kitsilano in the 1960s and 1970s were among the first to gentrify.
Someone said that you know you’re getting old when all the names in your contact list have M.D. after them. The apostle Paul noticed that as well – so he wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:16: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” Outwardly we are all wasting away. Every one of us. Physically this is not refutable. All the plastic surgery in the world can’t stop this. What we do have control over is our inner life. The moment we give our lives to Jesus Christ we are given a new heart. We are transformed from death to life. At that point the work of renewal has just begun. As we spend time in God’s Word, in prayer and fasting, yielding more and more to His perfect will, God’s renewing power is unleashed into our hearts. His goal for us, the goal each one of us ought to have for ourselves, is to grow spiritually day by day so we increasingly become like Jesus in our love and compassion. Our daily goal must be an increasing Christ-likeness, being renewed more and more into His image.
These have been words from the heart.
