Words from the Heart for Saturday December 28th, 2019

The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

Revelation 11:15 (NIV)

What A Day

Canada’s National Anthem, O Canada, is one of a few national anthems that is actually a hymn. As far as I know, it is the only national anthem that includes the idea of the establishment of the Kingdom of God. The final verse says “Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer, hold our Dominion, in thy loving care. Help us to find, O God, in thee, a lasting rich reward. As waiting for the Better Day, we ever stand on guard.” Most Canadians are unaware that our national anthem looks forward to the Day when the Lord Jesus will establish His eternal Kingdom.

God has been making plans for the establishment of the Kingdom of God from before time itself existed. Almost immediately after sin entered into the world, God set in motion His plan to redeem men and women from every tribe, nation and language on the planet. Which is staggering when you think about the fact that at that point in time there were no tribes, nations and languages. Over time, God revealed more and more of His Kingdom plans, and as we get closer to the day when the Kingdom will be revealed in its completeness, a pent up expectation is growing. One day, when the Kingdom is established in its fullness, we will experience Revelation 11:15: “The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” The day of the world’s kingdoms will be over, with their wars and selfish ambition, replaced by the perfect rule of Jesus the Messiah. What a day that will be.

These have been words from the heart.
