But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15 NIV

Followers of Jesus have a decision to make every day – how am I going to live my life today? Am I going to live fully for Jesus today, or am I going to look, live and love like the world? Far too many Christians choose the latter and so they have no impact for the Lord and His Kingdom. This choice has always faced God’s people. The story of the people of Israel is that they too easily took on the look and lifestyle of the nations around them. So do far too many followers of Jesus. We need to follow in the footsteps of Joshua, who looked at the people of Israel that he was leading, and said in Joshua 24:15: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.’” His strong words touched the hearts of the people of Israel and they declared their determination to serve the Lord. Lead like Joshua and others will follow as you serve Jesus.

These have been words from the heart.
