Words from the Heart for Saturday August 21st, 2021
In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
1 Peter 5:10 (NLT)
He Will Restore You
In the early morning of April 24, 1945, Tore Marsoe, a 16-year-old boy living in the town of Hamar on the shore of Lake Mjøsa, Norway, watched as a Royal Canadian Air Force Halifax Bomber crashed into the lake, killing five of the six aircrew on board. He never forgot that plane, and in 1991, Marsoe found it in the lake at a depth of 250 metres. It now sits, fully restored, at the National Air Force Museum of Canada.
If you are going through a challenging time right now, I have some great news for you – it won’t last forever. I have many friends who are suffering for their faith – two of them recently spent months in prison because of their love for Jesus and their passion to share the Gospel with others. During this time, they are standing on the promises in God’s Word for them, promises like the one found in 1 Peter 5:10: “In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.” You don’t have to be imprisoned for your faith to claim this promise, although many were to whom Peter wrote this epistle. If you have experienced God’s kindness in saving you through faith in Jesus, you know how much He cares. This same God knows exactly what you are going through, and He promises that this will not last forever. The day is coming when He will restore you, and in the meantime, He is with you, supporting and strengthening you.
These have been words from the heart.
