Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

Do Not Waver

According to a 2021 study by the communications firm Edelman, faith in journalism is fragile and wavering. 49 per cent of Canadians surveyed agreed that journalists and reporters are purposely trying to mislead people by saying things they know are false or gross exaggerations. 52 per cent agreed that most news organizations are more concerned with supporting an ideology or political position than with informing the public. 52 per cent of Canadians agreed the media is not doing well at being objective and non-partisan.

Yesterday we focused on walking in faith with the unseen God. Everything about our relationship with Jesus Christ is about faith. We are redeemed by faith, renewed by faith, sanctified by faith. We walk in faith and exercise faith. We find God by faith and we grow in our relationship with Him by faith. The patriarch Abraham is one of the greatest examples to us about this, and in the book of Romans, the apostle Paul teaches us that like Abraham, we must not waver in our faith. Romans 4:18-21 says, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead – since he was about a hundred years old – and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” Like Abraham, let us not waver in our faith.

These have been words from the heart.
