This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
Isaiah 44:6 (NIV)
No Other God
Rahul Tiwari, a software engineer who recently immigrated from India became a Canadian citizen last May. When asked why he came to Canada, he acknowledged that Canada offered enticing opportunities for his career. He said, “It’s very unique and open to careers, so I find there’s no other country in the world that supports this as much,” Tiwari said. That wasn’t the only reason he became a citizen. Tiwari went on to say “It’s a well-known country in the world that accepts people from different religions, different colours, different races. That’s the most important part.”
When you ponder the greatness of our God, there are simply not enough superlatives to describe Him. Men and women of God have tried to express the greatness of His nature and love for millennia, and none have been able to comprehend the extent of His nature and the glory of His being. Isaiah gives us a glimpse of this in the words of God Himself. In Isaiah 44:6 we read: “This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: ‘I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.’” This is the heart of the nature of God – He is the first and the last. Before creation, He exists. When this age draws to a close – He exists. The God we have come to know through faith in Jesus Christ is the God who is above all things, outside of time and space. The contrast between Him and the gods of this world couldn’t be sharper – they are created gods – He is the Creator God. Your life only makes sense in relationship with Him. Reach out in faith to Him today through Jesus Christ His Son.
These have been words from the heart.
