The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.
Acts 3:13-15 NIV
Disowned
If you got denied or refused at the border of Canada then the process to get into Canada is time consuming and frustrating and sometimes costly. For example, if you paid for a vacation in Canada in advance and if you didn’t get an entry permit to enter Canada or if you got stopped at the Canadian airport then you will lose your money. Sometimes, you can have a wedding ceremony or a funeral to attend and if you are found to be inadmissible to Canada, then it can be frustrating.

There is nothing worse for a person than being disowned. As challenging as being fired from a job is, being disowned by your family must be as difficult as anything a human being can face. Which drives home the depth of pain that Jesus suffered as He faced His crucifixion. The physical pain of dying on a cross was beyond excruciating. There is, perhaps, no more painful a form of torture or capital punishment than crucifixion. But not all of Jesus’ pain was physical. In preaching to the crowd on Pentecost, the first Spirit-filled sermon following the coming of the Holy Spirit in power on that great Jewish festival day, Peter says this in Acts 3:13-15: “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.” Don’t disown Jesus.
These have been words from the heart.
