Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Live With Him

There are organizations in Canada that will help foreign students in Canada live with a Canadian family while they are in this country. According to one such organization, “Do you want as much practice as possible speaking English? Staying with a Canadian host family is the best way for you to make the most of your time in Canada. It is also the most popular choice for our students. By living with a Canadian family you will have many opportunities to practise speaking English and learn about Canadian culture.”

The narrative of the Bible is that God is building a people for Himself, a people who will bring Him honour and glory. He was willing to go to great lengths for that to happen – His plan was to come Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, to redeem all that was lost to sin and rebellion. It would mean the Lord of life would die a painful death, bearing the sin of the world as He did. It would mean the power of heaven would be unleashed in order for death to die. One of the great blessings of being a follower of Jesus is that we share in the life of Jesus. Romans 6:8-11 says, “Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.  In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
