Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,
1 Peter 1:3-4 NIV
An Inheritance
Money received from an inheritance, like most gifts and life insurance benefits, is not considered taxable income by the CRA, so a beneficiary doesn’t have to pay taxes on that money or report it as income on their tax return. This doesn’t mean that an inheritance is immune from Canadian tax laws. The deceased person’s legal representative or estate may have to pay taxes on the estate’s income before the money is released. By the time the estate is settled, the beneficiary should not have to worry about taxes.

Jesus resurrection changes everything. There is no place I have seen that more clearly than standing with a grieving family at the graveside of a loved one. While it is isn’t easy – sometimes I have stood with my own family at the graveside of a dearly loved member or our own family, and I know how painful death is – for the follower of Jesus, its far different than at the graveside of someone who has no assurance of eternal life. There is hope, and the assurance that the deceased is in the presence of the God they have known. The apostle understood this too, and so writes in 1 Peter 1:3-4: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.” Because Jesus burst forth from His grave, so will all who love Him. You have an inheritance Jesus is holding for you in heaven. Hallelujah!
These have been words from the heart.
