Words from the Heart for Monday September 21st, 2020

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

Psalm 91:7-8 (NIV)

It Will Not Come Near You

According to Canada’s Nature Conservancy, “Canada’s greatest contribution to sustaining our planet’s biodiversity and ecological services may very well be our abundance. From some of the world’s largest intact forests and wetlands, to wild northern rivers, to spectacles of bird and mammal migrations, Canada is one of only a handful of countries with true wilderness and wild spaces remaining. It is clear that we need big protected wild places. And we need big protected wild places not just for nature, but to secure the quality of life for future generations.”

It seems that those who do evil seem too often to get away with it. While our justice system is one of the best on the planet, and we hold our public officials to a high standard, there are far too many unsolved crimes and it seems that too many of our leaders pad their own pockets on taxpayer dollars. Is there anywhere we can find consistent justice? Psalm 91:7-8 says this: “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.” Those of us who trust in Jesus Christ are given the assurance that there is coming a day when justice will be meted out perfectly. King David understood this. Through Nathan, God confronted David with his sin. One day, all who have not trusted in Jesus Christ will be faced with their sin. Those who have persecuted and oppressed God’s people will face judgment and punishment. How much better to place your trust in Jesus and have Him remove your sin now.

These have been words from the heart.
