Words from the Heart for Monday September 20th, 2021

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

Saved By Grace

No grace is being offered to a number of community groups in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. A building, once the site of Harbour Grace Primary School, is home to the SPLASH Centre, a youth-support organization that has been operating since 2001 and relocated to the former school in 2014. But the property is owned by the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, and in July the school board told occupants it’s looking to sell by mid-September — and the groups would have to out by then.

Every man-made religion demands that some form of action take place in order to get god’s attention, or win his or her favour. There is no exception to this. Only in the Christian faith do we understand that nothing we can ever do will cause God to love us more than He does, and nothing we can ever do will cause God to love us any less than He does. This is grace. We read about it in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Through Jesus’ death on the cross, God extends the gift of eternal life to all who will stretch out their empty hand to receive it. This takes faith. I don’t know many people who turn down a gift. Most of the time we accept it with gratitude. Which is why I find it difficult to understand how anyone can turn down the greatest gift ever offered – sin forgiven and removed, peace with our Creator restored and the abiding presence of God forever. He is offering that gift to you right now.

These have been words from the heart.
