Words from the Heart for Monday September 16th, 2019
Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.
Ezekiel 40:4 (NIV)
Look and Listen
Over the past decade, more than 85 per cent of all rail-related deaths and injuries in Canada occurred as a result of motor collisions at railway crossings or trespassing on railway property. Virtually all of these incidents could have been avoided. “Look. Listen. Live.” is an initiative of the people at Operation Lifesaver and is a way of trying to prevent these incidents from happening in the future.
The Lord is concerned with our everyday lives, and He is constantly working in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Even though we don’t often see what is happening in the spiritual realm, God calls us to be aware that He is at work. We get a glimpse of this in God’s call to the prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 40:4: “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.” Those of us who have come into a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ are aware of God’s working in our lives. We are aware of His abiding presence with us and in us. But we are also called to be aware that He is working in the lives of others around us. He calls us to be sensitive to this and to be willing to be sensitive to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit as He leads us to bring the love of Christ to the lives of those whom God brings across our path each day. As you go about your life today, look for those divine appointments that God will orchestrate today.
These have been words from the heart.
