Words from the Heart for Monday September 14th, 2020
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
II Corinthians 5:10 (NKJV)
Judgement Seat of Christ
The Canadian Judicial Council is a federal body which oversees federal judges in Canada. The council was created in 1971 following years of discussion about the need to coordinate professional development and judicial conduct matters for judges in a way that would respect the judiciary as an independent branch of government. The review of complaints had previously been coordinated by the Department of Justice, with the occasional involvement of local Chief Justices. Since its inception, the CJC has referred a total of 14 complaints.
One of the great blessings of coming to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord is that our sins have been forgiven, and we will not have to appear before the great judge of the universe on judgment day. Our sins have been removed and when God looks at us, He sees Jesus’ righteousness. We will never face the judgment that is in the future for all who have never trusted in Jesus. There is a judgment for the believer, however. 2 Corinthians 5:10 says “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” Followers of Jesus will never face judgment for sin. Ours is gone, for good. But we will stand before the Lord Jesus to give account for how we have served Him. This isn’t a salvation issue. We are saved by grace through faith alone in the finished work of Christ on the cross. But faith without works is dead, James says. We are called to serve the Lord out of a heart of gratitude. How well are you serving Him today?
These have been words from the heart.
