Words from the Heart for Monday September 10th, 2018
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.
Romans 1:21 (NLT)
Dark and Confused Minds
God in His amazing grace has left a testimony of Himself through creation. This verse tells a very sad response to that opportunity to know the Lord. Sinful mankind withholds worship and thanksgiving from the Lord. This causes their minds to be confused about the truth of God and creation. Be merciful, Oh Lord, to those who are missing you.
Apparently, there are a lot of things that non-Canadians don’t understand about our country. Aside from common themes like maple syrup, quirky language and poutine, Canada, for the most part, remains a mystery to people around the world. In a recent submission on AskReddit, one user asked non-Canadians to disclose what they don’t understand about Canada. In just one day, the thread managed to garner over 20,000 comments, with Canadians providing answers to the world’s most burning questions about their home and native land.
Over the years, I’ve had many conversations with atheists. They think their intelligence can argue away the idea of God. One of the arguments they use is that there are so many religions and ideas about what God is like that Christians are ridiculous to claim that our God is unique and that Jesus is any more God than any of the other of millions of gods in the world. The Bible knew that such an argument would be made, and so Paul writes in Romans 1:21: “Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused.” It makes complete sense that the One True God would want to reveal Himself to His creation. After all, He continues to come in search of those who are lost to sin. The Bible admits that many gods have been created in the minds of human beings. But not our God, who has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ. What does Jesus reveal about God?
These have been words from the heart.
