Words from the Heart for Monday October 8th, 2018
I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30 (NRSV)
With a Song
The Lord is worthy of all our praise every day. Today is especially marked to give Him thanks. Your praise to the Creator of the universe can shift the atmosphere of any doubt and despair that may be trying to settle in your heart. This secret works for today and for every day as you take time to worship Him. Make a list and express your thanksgiving out loud to your wonderful Lord.
Canada’s music industry is the sixth largest in the world, producing many internationally renowned artists. Over the years, Canada has developed a music infrastructure that includes church halls, chamber halls, conservatories, academies, performing arts centres, record companies, radio stations and television music video channels. Music broadcasting in Canada is regulated by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission – the CRTC. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences administers Canada’s music industry awards, the Juno Awards, which first commenced in 1970.
Happy Thanksgiving! Canadians have so much for which to be thankful, and today we all take the time to consider them. When we gather as a family, we will go around the table and each person will have an opportunity to say thanks. God’s people have always been noted as being thankful people. We are particularly aware of the great gifts we have received from our Creator and Redeemer God. And King David, being the musician he was, says this in Psalm 69:30, “I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.” The book of Psalms is the hymn book of the people of Israel and many of the songs there were written by King David. Followers of Jesus are people who love to sing. Our worship is expressed in some of the most beautiful music ever written. On this Thanksgiving Day, is there a way for you express your gratitude and thanksgiving in song? Even if you aren’t a great singer, find a song that is meaningful to you, and take time to sing it. You will be joining generations of God’s people in offering musical thanks to the Lord.
These have been words from the heart.
