Words from the Heart for Monday October 21st, 2019
Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Mark 1:14b-15 (NIV)
The Time Has Come
The National Research Council (NRC) maintains Canada’s official time through the use of atomic clocks. The Council makes time servers available for direct synchronization with computers. The CBC has aired a daily signal, the National Research Time Signal, since November 5, 1939. The Government of Canada recommends use of the 24-hour clock. Speakers of Canadian French have fully adopted this system, but many users of Canadian English use the 12 hour clock in everyday speech.
God is never late. Nor is He ever early. His plans are always perfect and perfectly timed. I have found that God’s people don’t usually have a challenge with trusting God’s plan – most followers of Jesus want to be in the centre of God’s will for their lives. What we often find challenging is waiting for God’s timing. We want God’s will to be done, and we want it in our time. I’m sure there were times in Israel’s thinking when they wondered if the Messiah was ever going to come. Jesus understood this, and He deals with it right at the start of His ministry. In Mark 1:14b-15 we read, “Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” The time has come. How we long to hear those words regarding His second coming. He has promised that He will come – but in His time. We long for His coming and wish He would come to establish His Kingdom right now. But He calls us to wait. The time of repentance and faith remains and many will come to faith in Him today. No wonder He waits.
These have been words from the heart.
