Words from the Heart for Monday November 4th, 2019
Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.”
John 7:16-17 (NIV)
Comes From God
A recent Ipsos Reid poll gives some insight into what Canadians think. This is the truth about Canada. 93% of Canadians prefer a life filled with great experiences over beautiful possessions. 71% of Canadians say government has a responsibility to help take care of the less fortunate. 85% say its better to play within the system to succeed. Only 18% of Canadians feel strongly connected to their physical communities. 29% of Canadians have changed a purchase behaviour/boycotted a product or company because of social, environmental or ethical concerns.
Men and women are always looking for the newest fad, the newest technology, the newest idea. And in this day of social networking, the ability of someone to get these to the world has become so much easier. The challenge is that fads come and go, and just check out any number of YouTube videos to see how many of the supposedly “next great technology” ended up duds – think Google Glass (The New York Times described them as the Edsel of Silicon Valley.) While all of this is happening, there remains timeless truths that we too easily ignore. Those who heard Jesus teaching were amazed at what He taught. No one had ever heard such things before and they asked Him where He got such truth. Jesus replied in John 7:16-17: “Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.” The timeless truths of God have been revealed in and through Jesus Christ. They will change your life if you will study and believe them.
These have been words from the heart.
