Words from the Heart for Monday November 26th, 2018
I will lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them.
Isaiah 42:16 (NRSV)
I Will Guide Them
Our God is the Light-giver! He delights in turning the darkness into light for those who are without help and hope. He makes a promise and a commitment to them. He is not a God who forsakes those who are in need.
Explore magazine has published what they are calling their 13 Bucket List Outdoor Adventures in Canada. It is a guide for the most adventurous. The list includes such things as doing a wilderness triathlon in Whitehorse, Yukon and swimming with humpback whales in Newfoundland. And speaking of whales, the list suggests a great adventure would be kayaking with whales on Canada’s western coast off the shores of British Columbia.
When I was younger, I had a friend who was legally blind. And he was amazing. He would often tell people that while he was physically blind, being spiritually blind was a far worse problem, because that kind of blindness led to all sorts of problems in this life and worse in the life to come. The good news, and my friend knew this to be true, is that the Lord Jesus doesn’t want people wandering around in spiritual blindness. The prophet Isaiah gives a wonderful promise in Isaiah 42:16. God says, “I will lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they have not known I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them.” From the moment that sin entered in the human experience, God has been seeking after men and women. He recognizes that without Christ, everyone is wandering around in spiritual darkness. No wonder Jesus said that He was the light of the world, the fulfillment of this prophecy in Isaiah. How has Jesus brought light into your life?
These have been words from the heart.
