Words from the Heart for Monday November 19th, 2018
God supplies seed for the person who plants. He supplies bread for food. God will also supply and increase the amount of your seed. He will increase the results of your good works.
II Corinthians 9:10 (NIRV)
As Creator, the Lord caused seeds to be a part of every plant so the life in that plant can continue. In the same way, the Lord is committed to supplying not only what we need to live, but also promises to increase our amount of seed so we can participate with Him in giving. And, He will multiply the results of what we “sow” as seed.
If you are looking for a country in which to retire, Canada is in the top 10. Natixis Investment Managers released its annual ranking of countries with the best retirement based on finances, material well-being, health and quality of life. Canada came in at number 9. All of the countries that landed in the Top 10 have three things in common. They have low levels of income inequality, available health care and strong social programs. Switzerland topped the list this year.
We human beings think we are something. We take pride in all we produce and honour those who invent things that make our lives easier and more prosperous. What we fail to recognize is that without all that the Creator God has provided for us we could produce nothing. 2 Corinthians 9:10 reminds us that, “God supplies seed for the person who plants. He supplies bread for food. God will also supply and increase the amount of your seed. He will increase the results of your good works.” Ultimately, all that men and women do in creating is to take what God has provided and increase its value. Paul uses an agricultural term here, and it is true that God provides the seed. But He also provides minerals, and renewable resources, water and air. He also creates the minds needed to increase the value of the natural resources. If He has been that faithful in His provision of all those things, you can count on Him to provide all you need to thrive in life. For what do you need to trust God today? He will not only provide what you need, He will provide the wisdom you need to increase.
