Words from the Heart for Monday November 16th, 2020
In Christ we come before God with freedom and without fear. We can do this because of our faith in Christ.
Ephesians 3:12 (ERV)
Under Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canadians are free to follow the religion of their choice. In addition, they are guaranteed freedom of thought, belief and expression. Since the media are an important means for communicating thoughts and ideas, the Charter protects the right of the press and other media to speak out. Our right to gather and act in peaceful groups is also protected, as is our right to belong to an association like a trade union.
God is holy. So much so that when Moses asked if he could get a glimpse of God’s glory, God replies in Genesis 33:20: “you cannot see my face, for no one can see my face and live.” The reason is sin. God’s blazing holiness would destroy both the sin and the sinner. But God’s great desire is to have fellowship with men and women. So He put a plan into place. He would take on human form in the person of Jesus Christ. On the cross, He would take the punishment upon Himself that we deserve, so that our sin would be atoned for and removed. The result is proclaimed by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 3:12: “In Christ we come before God with freedom and without fear. We can do this because of our faith in Christ.” In our walk with the Lord we cannot take for granted the incredible privilege we have in coming before God with freedom and without fear. This is what Moses, and millions of others before Jesus longed for. Through Jesus, we get a glimpse of the face of God – we behold His glory. Come before the Lord today in prayer and with gratitude for this great privilege.
These have been words from the heart.
