Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”

At Home

As a Canadian citizen living abroad, it’s not uncommon to feel the pull back to your country of citizenship. However, moving back to Canada comes with a few complications. If you’ve been living abroad as a Canadian citizen and choose to move back home to Canada, there are several steps that you’ll have to take before you can resume your “normal” life as a Canadian resident. Even if you are a Canadian citizen, you will still have to prove that you have returned permanently, and set up resources like banking, healthcare, and more.

Back in the garden of Eden, God, Adam and Eve enjoyed perfect fellowship. Genesis 3:8 tells us that immediately after sin had entered into the world, when Adam and Eve heard God walking in the garden, for the first time ever they hid from their Creator. The implication is that it was normal for God to walk in the garden with the highest of His creation. Sin destroyed that relationship, but their remains in each human heart a longing for such intimacy with God. Which makes the promise of John 14:23 so precious: “Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.’” One of the great mysteries of the Christian life that is God the Holy Spirit takes up residence in each person who by faith trusts in Jesus and lives by kingdom of God principles. We enjoy fellowship with Him because He has removed our sin and He tabernacles with us. This mystery – Christ in me – is almost beyond imagination. Your Creator makes His home with you. Ponder that today.

These have been words from the heart.
