Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV

Don’t You Know

Lonely Planet is one of the top online travel websites. One page is 12 things locals want non-Canadians to know before visiting Canada. It includes things like Canada is too big to see in one day, and despite being a bilingual country, not all Canadians speak French, or English for that matter. About this, it says, “Despite the commonly spoken word in each region, signage and packaging around the country are typically in both English and French – a rule in place since the Official Languages Act came into play in 1969.”

Throughout history there have been those who have taught that everything physical is evil – that only the spiritual is good. They teach that we only find peace as we deny everything physical and just focus on the spiritual. But the Bible teaches something different. Our Creator made us body, mind and soul. We are called to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, and in one of the greatest mysteries of the Christian life, and greatest blessings, God the Holy Spirit takes up residence in the body of everyone who repents of sin and trusts Jesus as Saviour and Lord. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.” How are you honouring God with your body? When we abuse our bodies, or use them as instruments of sin, we are dishonouring God’s creation. If you are a follower of Jesus, God the Holy Spirit is dwelling in your body. Honour Him with it today.
