I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…

I Want to Know Christ

The website getincanada.ca gives a list of things people should know before visiting Canada. The article states: “Canada invites millions of visitors each year with its blend of world-class urban centers, awe-inspiring natural wonders, and a reputation for politeness and safety. But travelling through six time zones, diverse climates, and bilingual regions can pose unexpected challenges to the unprepared. Whether you’re marveling at the Northern Lights in Yukon, sampling multicultural cuisine in Toronto, or skiing worldclass powder in British Columbia, the key to a seamless trip lies in advance planning.

I have a friend who has a goal for his life. He keeps it posted through his home, and it guides his decisions every day. If you had such a goal, what would it be? The Apostle Paul had a personal goal, and he writes about it in Philippians 3:10: “I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death…” Paul’s heart longs not just for knowledge about Christ, but for intimate fellowship with Him. To know Christ is to walk with Him through both joy and sorrow, to embrace the power of His resurrection and the humility of His suffering. The resurrection power gives us hope, strength, and victory over sin. But Paul reminds us that knowing Christ also means sharing in His sufferings. It’s in the hard places—loss, rejection, trials—that we often encounter Jesus most profoundly. These moments shape us, refine us, and draw us closer to His heart. Today, ask the Lord Jesus to reveal Himself in every season of your life. As you walk with Him, you’ll find that even in suffering, His presence is enough—and His resurrection power is at work within you.

These have been words from the heart.
