… if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
Hearing from Heaven
Canada was nothing close to an independent nation upon its official founding on July 1, 1867. Canada’s first 10 prime ministers (and we’ve only had 23) oversaw a country whose control over its own affairs was roughly equivalent to that of modern-day Scotland or Puerto Rico. On many of the key issues, the Quebec of 2022 arguably has just as much autonomy from Ottawa as the Canada of 1922 had from London. Canadians had little voice in making their own decisions.

We live in a world that is broken. We don’t have to look far to see that. The moment we wake up and we check our devices, we are bombarded with the overnight news filled with pain and suffering – not the least of which is the latest COVID-19 count. It can be depressing and many are dealing with anxiety like never before. For all of us, I have great news. Listen to what God says to us in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” God wants to heal our world. He sent Jesus Christ to do just that – one life at a time. When we repent of our sin and turn to the Lord Jesus, we have the assurance that God is listening. He hears your cry for peace and healing. And He promises that He will respond to that cry of your heart. He will heal you, and through you, and all others who follow Him, He brings healing to our world.
These have been words from the heart.
