No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

1 John 2:23 NIV

Denial

It is embarrassing to be denied entry to Canada, but there are a number of reasons for inadmissibility. If you committed a crime outside of Canada, then you will be criminally inadmissible. You can also be denied because of your medical record. If your medical concerns pose a burden on the Canadian healthcare or are a health hazard to other Canadians, you can be denied. Finally, if you have been guilty of some illegal act while visiting Canada previously, you will be denied entry.

I see a lot of postings on social media that surprise and even shock me, but none more so that a posting by the wife of a clergyman who posted “God doesn’t care what you believe.” I just shook my head. The entire message of the Bible is that God deeply cares about what we believe because it not only secures our eternal destination, but it has a direct impact on how we live our lives here on earth. The apostle is very clear about this and writes this in 1 John 2:23: “No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.” Lots of people believe in God, and it’s fairly easy to have a conversation about God in Canadian society. Start talking about Jesus, however, and you can often feel the tension rising. The world is fine with religion but Jesus is a challenge. After all, He is the One who declares that He is the only way to God. John was there to hear Jesus say that, and confirms that here. It matters deeply what you believe about Jesus. If you deny Him there is no hope. If you acknowledge Him, eternity is secure.
