Words from the Heart for Monday June 29th, 2020
…to another [is given] gifts of healing by that one Spirit…
1 Corinthians 12:9b (NIV)
May 1 is National Physicians Day in Canada and this year, it fell in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. May 1 was chosen as the date to pay tribute to Dr. Emily Stowe, the first female to practice medicine in Canada, and a founder of the country’s women’s movement. Dr. Stowe was born on May 1, 1831. To mark National Physicians Day, the Ontario Medical Association asked Ontarians to celebrate doctors and “Shine A Light For Them” at 9 p.m.
Until sin entered into the world there was no sickness. What a blessing that must have been. No pain, no cancer, no heart issues, no auto-immune disease, no injury. In this world, there is so much suffering and illness. One day the world will be restored. The book of Revelation assures us that there is coming a day when there will be no pain or sickness. In the meantime, the Lord still loves to heal. The Gospels are filled with those on whom Jesus laid His hands, or spoke a word, and healing takes place. I have met many around the world, and in my own family, who have had a miraculous physical or emotional healing. Within the body of Christ there are those who have been given a unique gift of healing. I have met them over the years and over and over as they have prayed for people, healing has taken place. All of this is a great blessing to the person who is healed, and points to the day when there will be no more need for Jesus’ touch for healing. If you are facing illness or pain right now, ask the Lord for His healing power to be unleashed in your life.
These have been words from the heart.
