Words from the Heart for Monday June 24th, 2019
The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.
Psalm 93:1-2 (NIV)
The Lord Reigns
The 1939 royal tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth was undertaken in the build-up to World War II as a way to emphasise the independence of the Dominion from Britain. The visit lasted from May 17 to June 15, covering every Canadian province, the Dominion of Newfoundland, and then a few days in the United States. There had been previous royal tours of Canada, but this was unprecedented in its scope. The tour was an enormous event, attracting huge crowds at each new city. It was one of the first visits of a reigning monarch and the first time a British monarch had set foot in the USA.
Human monarchs, like all human life, have a beginning and an end. They have a day when they are born and a day with they will die. They have a day of their coronation and a day when they either stepped down from their throne, were overthrown from power, or simply passed on like every other human being. Not so with the King of kings. Listen to what Psalm 93:1-2 says: “The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.” The Lord God has no start date. He has always been and His reign is eternal. And His reign will never end. What a powerful picture of Almighty God. He reigns, robed in majesty, armed with strength. This is our God. He keeps the world He created in order and secure. Those who don’t know this God are shaken when human events make the world look fragile. We know better. Our God reigns.
These have been words from the heart.
