I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Right Hand

The monarchy of Canada is Canada’s form of government embodied by the Canadian sovereign and head of state. It is one of the key components of Canadian sovereignty and sits at the core of Canada’s constitutional federal structure and Westminster-style parliamentary democracy. The monarchy is the foundation of the executive (King-in-Council), legislative (King-in-Parliament), and judicial (King-on-the-Bench) branches of both federal and provincial jurisdictions. The current monarch is King Charles III, who has reigned since 8 September 2022.

We want to be in charge of our lives. The other day I heard a man being celebrated for playing “I Did It My Way” at his funeral. He was honoured for being a self-made man. This is what the world does. What a contrast to what King David said about himself in Psalm 16:8: “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” David understood that in light of eternity, doing it God’s way is the only way. He begins by keeping his eyes on God, which puts everything else into perspective. He also ensured that God was at his right hand. This is vitally important. Biblically, the right hand represents authority. King David, who ruled a nation, understood that this life and eternity only falls into the right perspective when we keep our eyes on the Lord and He has complete authority in our lives. As usual, the Kingdom of God turns the things of this world on their heads. The follower of Christ knows that doing things in this life our way always ends at the grave. Doing things God’s way makes this life so much better and eternity guaranteed.

These have been words from the heart.
